Collaborative Flower Collage

This collaborative flower collage is a sweet group art activity for preschoolers. Each child decorates a large paper petal with paint, crayons, markers, stickers, or paper flowers. The petals are then arranged around a center circle to create one big classroom flower.

Best for: Spring theme, friendship theme, classroom community, color exploration, fine motor practice.

Materials

  • Colored construction paper
  • Large circle for the flower center
  • Paint, markers, crayons, or dot markers
  • Glue sticks or liquid glue
  • Paper flowers, stickers, or collage pieces
  • Scissors

How to Do the Activity

  1. Cut large petal shapes from colored construction paper.
  2. Give each child one petal to decorate.
  3. Invite children to paint, color, or glue collage pieces onto their petal.
  4. Prepare a circle for the flower center and decorate it as a group.
  5. Arrange the petals around the center circle to make one large flower.
  6. Display the finished flower on a wall, bulletin board, or classroom door.

  • How many petals can we count?
  • How is your petal different from your friend's petal?
  • What should we name our classroom flower?
Teacher Tip: Write each child’s name lightly on the back of the petal instead of the front if you plan to photograph the finished flower for a website or social media post.
