Paper Roll Frog Craft
This paper roll frog craft turns simple cardboard tubes into playful little frogs. Children paint the rolls, add paper legs and feet, glue on wiggly eyes, and use the finished frogs for pond-themed pretend play, counting, and storytelling.
Best for: Pond themes, frog life cycle units, recycled art, painting practice, scissor skills, gluing, fine motor work, and storytelling.

Materials
- Cardboard tubes or paper rolls
- Green paint or washable paint
- Paintbrushes
- Green construction paper
- Wiggly eyes
- Glue
- Scissors
- Black marker
- Table covering or tray
How to Do the Activity
- Give each child a cardboard tube or paper roll.
- Invite children to paint the roll green, brown, or pond-inspired colors.
- Let the painted rolls dry until they are ready to handle.
- Cut simple frog legs and feet from green construction paper.
- Glue the legs and feet onto the sides and bottom of the roll.
- Add wiggly eyes near the front of the frog.
- Use the frogs for counting, hopping games, pond stories, or a classroom display.
Questions to Ask Children
- What colors did you use for your frog?
- How many legs does your frog have?
- Can your frog hop high or low?
- Where might your frog live?
- What sound could your frog make?
Teacher Tip: Flatten the bottom of the paper roll slightly if you want the frogs to sit more easily on a table. For younger children, pre-cut the legs and feet so they can focus on painting, choosing pieces, and gluing.
