Popsicle Stick Fries Craft
This popsicle stick fries craft is a playful pretend-food activity for preschoolers. Children make a red paper fries box, paint craft sticks yellow, and place the painted sticks inside like French fries. Materials
- Red construction paper
- Popsicle sticks or craft sticks
- Yellow washable paint
- Paintbrushes
- Glue or tape
- Scissors for adult use
- Black marker
- Tray or table covering
- Smocks or old shirts
How to Do the Activity
- Cut and shape red construction paper into a simple fries box. Fold the sides and glue or tape the edges so the box can hold the craft sticks.
- Invite children to paint popsicle sticks with yellow washable paint to make pretend fries.
- Let the painted sticks dry until they are ready to handle.
- Write Fries on the front of the red paper box with a black marker, or invite older children to copy the word.
- Place the yellow craft-stick fries inside the red paper box.
- Count the fries together, compare tall and short sticks, and use the finished craft for pretend restaurant or snack shop play.
